Caring for your handmade garments
Although it is best to try and avoid washing your knits as much as possible, they do need to be washed from time to time. Here are some tips and instructions for keeping your pieces in the best possible condition:
- Hand washing your pieces in cold or warm (not hot) water is always the safest way to go!
- Some pieces may be okay to go in the washing machine, but try to put them in a garment bag and/or with other soft delicates. Avoid other items that may catch and pull the yarn (buttons, bra clasps, zippers, etc.)
- Always lay flat to air dry. NEVER put your knits in the dryer!
- Heavy sweaters and cardigans are best stored folded - the weight of the garment on the hanger may stretch out the shoulders.
